I installed all new Jem electronics and evolution pickups. Since I had the frets out I scalloped the last 4 frets like on a real Jem, installed the correct frets not these kaka jumbo"s, radiused the fingerboard and stained it dark brown and purple to make it look like rosewood.
I had to take the neck off and fix the twist in my neck jig, replace the frets that by the way were done horribly, a lot were popped up and not polished. Luckily I"m a guitar builder so I did exactly what I didn"t want to do with this guitar and tore it apart and spent time and more money on it. The pickups don"t sound terrible and the term works great like all Ibanez guitars but the worst thing about the whole experience is the neck is twisted. That"s a big deal to me they should have used Indian rosewood at least this wood they used is just ugly and has a weird texture. The other thing that bothered me was the color of the fingerboard, in the advertisement witch I"ve noticed has changed it was a darker brown, this one is wheat yellow and pale, you can barely see the vine of life inlay.

When I pulled it out of the box I noticed it was lazily painted, the inside of the monkey grip is white and flakey where they didn"t spray enough pink paint, the paint under the rear strap button is cracked and chipped down to wood. Sweetwater is an amazing company, the only online retailer I would ever consider buying any piece of gear from and we all know why, that being said I was pretty disappointed with this guitar.
